My Story
I was born and raised in New Jersey, where I first learned to surf and formed my connection to the ocean.
I studied at the University of Cincinnati's DAAP (College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning) program, traveling across the US, Baja California Sur, and Europe, where I fell in love with photography. Being constantly on the move taught me the importance of documenting people in the places that matter most to them.
At 22, I moved to California and spent several months in Baja California Sur, where my focus shifted toward photographing in and around the water. The ocean became both my subject and my setting.
Surfing runs deep in my family. In 1980, my dad, Carlos, and my uncle Tim introduced surfing to the Ordóñez family from Puerto Rico, sparking a legacy that would span generations. From Jersey barrels to Cabo’s desert point breaks and Maui’s Ho‘okipa, surfing became more than a sport. It became how we connect. Boards shaped by my Uncle Sean were passed down, stories were shared, and the ocean became our common language.
Everything I create is shaped by that history.
